GST Return Due Dates: Staying Ahead of Monthly & Quarterly Filings

Missing a GST due date is one of the most common — and most avoidable — compliance issues businesses run into. Late fees and interest add up quickly, and repeated defaults can also affect your GST compliance rating.

The fix is usually simple: a compliance calendar. Map out GSTR-1, GSTR-3B (or the QRMP scheme filings, if applicable), and annual return deadlines at the start of the financial year, and set reminders at least a week in advance.

Reconciling your purchase register against GSTR-2B every month, rather than only at year-end, also prevents last-minute surprises around input tax credit mismatches.

If your turnover crosses the QRMP threshold or changes during the year, make sure your filing frequency is updated accordingly — this is a detail that is easy to miss and can lead to inadvertent non-compliance.
